Mr. Stanley Wichowsky, 85, of Moyer Road, Fort Plain, New York died, Thursday, May 24, 2012 at his home.
Born on July 23, 1926 in Frankfort, NY, he was the son of Vito Wichowsky and Dorothy Anteonvitch Wichowsky. He was a graduate of Van Hornesville Central School and was an area resident most of his life.
Mr. Wichowsky was the Owner and Operator of Wicho Farms in the Town of Stark since 1953. He was known for his award winning registered Holsteins and was featured in Heards Dairyman Magazine.
He was of Catholic faith.
Mr. Wichowsky is predeceased by his brothers, Vito Wichowsky, Jr., Leo Wichowsky and granddaughter, Andra Carpenter.
Mr. Wichowsky is survived by his son, John and Theresa Wichowsky of East Amherst, NY; daughter, Jo Ann Kraft of Zephyrhills, NY; sister, Helen Wichowsky of California; brothers, Andrew Wichowsky of Tacoma, WA, Peter Wick of Colonie, NY; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY with Father Dennis Murphy officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 3:00-5:00pm at Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort, NY.

Mr. Ferdinand C. Kaiser

Ferdinand C. Kaiser, 87, of Abeling Street, Canajoharie, died Saturday evening, June 2 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany. He was born November 22, 1924 in the Bronx, NY and was the son of Ferdinand and Elsa Hammerlitz Kaiser.
Ferdinand graduated from Jamaica High School and then served in the US Army in Europe during World War II. After the war, he attended and graduated from New York University in 1949 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance.
He was initially employed by the Tetley Tea Company and transferred to Canajoharie in 1962 when the company was acquired by the Beech-Nut Packing Company. He became the manager of payroll and disbursements and eventually retired in 1989 with 40 years of total service.
He was an active member of St. John’s and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and was involved with both the church council and the choir. He was a Trustee on the Board of Directors of the Arkell Hall Foundation. He served on the boards of the Canajoharie Community Services and the Palatine Church Society. He was also a member of the Canajoharie Life Savers 25 Year Club.
Ferdinand is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, June Balling Kaiser, who he married on May 16, 1954. He is also survived by their two sons, David and his wife, Tamara, who live in Towaco, New Jersey and Clifford and his wife, Laurie, who live in Cranford, New Jersey. He is also survived by four grandsons, Matthew, Christopher, Jeffrey and Kevin; two nephews, Glenn and Wayne Balling and one niece, Kristi Horne. He was predeceased by his brother, Herman, in 1975.
A funeral service will be held for Ferdinand on Wednesday, June 6 at 10:00 AM at the St. John’s and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 143 Church Street, Canajoharie, New York with Rev. Zachary Labaugh officiating. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday evening, June 5 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ferdinand Kaiser’s name to St. John’s & St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, PO Box 275, Canajoharie, NY 13317.

Mrs. Elizabeth Avis Garrison Zierer, 78, of Lafayette Street, Palatine Bridge, New York died Monday, June 4, 2012 at Palatine Nursing Home.
Born on March 28, 1934 in Starkville, NY, she was the daughter of Charles A. Garrison and Catherine Swift Garrison. She was a long time area resident and a graduate of VanHornesville Central School.
Mrs. Zierer was a Quality Home Health Care Aide in Schenectady for many years.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Freysbush.
Mrs. Zierer was a member of the Canajoharie Women of the Moose, Chapter 987 for over 40 years.
On February 18, 1986 in Fort Plain, Elizabeth married Stanley Zierer. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2008.
Mrs. Zierer is survived by her 3 daughters, Virginia Eacker of Palatine Bridge, NY, Elaine Clark of Canajoharie, NY, Mary Louise Maia Silber of Knightdale, NC; son, Charlie R. Eacker of Amsterdam, NY; 3 sisters, Shirley (Sherwood) Dingman of Fort Plain, NY, Fay (Keith) Veitch of Fort Plain, NY, Edna (David) Bowman of Fort Plain, NY; grandchildren, Aaron, Ashley, Ginger, Michael, Daniella, Jacob, Amanda, Christopher, Heather; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY.

Mrs. Virginia V. ”Vin” Stortecky, 79, of Roof Street, Fort Plain, New York died, Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 10, 1933 in Johnstown, NY, she was the daughter of Cornelius VanDerwerken and Martha Terry VanDerwerken. She was a graduate of Johnstown High School, class of 1951 and a graduate of Plattsburgh Teaching College, class of 1955. She had been a resident of the Fort Plain area since 1956.
Mrs. Stortecky was a Home Economics Teacher for Fort Plain Central School until her retirement in 2005. She began her teaching career in Guilderland in 1955, and then taught for Canajoharie School before finishing her teaching career at Fort Plain.
Her family was her life. She thought the world of her students and her educational community. She took great pleasure in cooking and reading.
On October 13, 1956 in Johnstown, NY, Virginia was married to Dr. Alfred E. Stortecky. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2004.
Mrs. Stortecky is survived by her 4 children, Son & Daughter-in-law, Stephen J. and Sandy Stortecky of Fort Plain, NY, Daughter & Son-in-law, Lisa A. and James Petty of Fort Plain, NY, Son & Daughter-in-law, James T. and Shelby Stortecky of Palatine Bridge, NY, Daughter, MaryBeth Stortecky of Gulf Port, FL; 6 Grandchildren, Ethan and Emma Stortecky, Brendan, Patrick and Terence Petty, Dashiel Stortecky; Sister and Brother-in-law, Susan and Daniel Melita of TN; Nephews, Kevin Melita, Matt Melita; Niece, Kris Hopkins.
The Office of the Burial of the Dead will be celebrated on Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 26 Moyer Street, Canajoharie with the Rev. Nancy Ryan officiating. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10:00am. Arrangements are entrusted to Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.

Mr. Kenneth Roy Rose, 95, of Clark Avenue, Fort Plain, New York died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Palatine Nursing Home.
Born on September 2, 1916 in Stephentown, NY, he was the son of Roy D. Rose and Ivadell Saxby Rose. He was a graduate of Heuvelton High School in Heuvelton, NY. Mr. Rose had been a local area resident since 1946, previously residing in St. Lawrence County.
From 1946-1952, Mr. Rose was the Manager of G.L.F. Farmer’s Corporation of Fort Plain and from 1952-1972 he was a proprietor with his brother, the late Austin Rose, of the Rose Brothers Red and White Supermarket of Fort Plain. In 1958 he built Valley Bowl, a Bowling Alley in Fort Plain with Fred Kirkpatrick, Harvey Smith and his brother. Subsequently he was employed as a Salesman for the Mohawk Valley PennySaver of Palatine Bridge for 12 years until retiring in 1985. Following his retirement he was a dispatcher for many years with Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service.
Mr. Rose was a Veteran of the US Army, serving during World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the Pacific Theater with the Signal Corp.
He was a member of the former St. James Catholic Church Council from 1979-1988 and was also a St. James Bingo Chairman for many years. He more recently attended Salem United Methodist Church in Stone Arabia.
Mr. Rose was a member and past commander 9 times of the Fort Plain American Legion Post #554, past County American Legion Commander and was a member for many years of the Fort Plain VFW Earl Stock Memorial Post #3275.
On May 16, 1942, Mr. Rose was married to his first wife, Audrey E. Baker Rose. She preceded him in death on September 23, 1982. Mr. Rose remarried and was predeceased by his second wife, Thelma Smith VanPatten Rose on February 25, 2008. He was also predeceased by a son, Charles K. Rose; sister, Elise Walton; brother, Austin Rose; step-sons, Carl VanPatten and Timothy VanPatten.
Mr. Rose is survived by a daughter, Margaret “Peg” McDonald of Fort Plain, NY; step-children, Linda Hoffman of St. Johnsville, NY, Karen Polmateer of Ephratah, NY, Lisa Buckbee of Maine; 6 grandchildren, Crystal Daurio, Tim Rose, Kelly Rose, Carin Lane, Katie Rose, all of Albany, NY, Pastor Phil Bevilacqua of Prattville, AL; 8 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY with Rev. Nancy Pullen officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 10-11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fort Plain Cemetery.

Mrs. Sylvia M. Sweeney, 86, of Sprakers Road, Sprakers, New York died Monday, June 18, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital with her family by her side.
Born on September 19, 1925 in Rome, NY, she was the daughter of Gordon Conkling and Mary Bruno Conkling. Mrs. Sweeney was educated at Rome area schools and had been a local area resident for over 60 years.
Mrs. Sweeney was most recently employed at KeyMark Corp. in Fonda, NY. Previously she worked for various shoe factories in Little Falls and prior to that, she was the Owner and Operator of Darrow’s Store in Sprakers.
She enjoyed making crafts, sewing and camping.
Mrs. Sweeney was predeceased by her husband, Ken Sweeney, as well as her previous husbands; 2 brothers, Gordon and Fred Conkling and granddaughter, Melissa Ranae Hinderliter.
Mrs. Sweeney is survived by her 3 daughters, Joan A. and her husband James Jacques, Rose Dufresne , Larraine Hinderliter all of Sprakers, NY; 2 sons, Erwin “Bucky” Youker and his wife Karla of Ilion, NY, Wayne Galyen and his wife, Nancy of Vestal, NY; brother, William Conkling of Herkimer, NY; sister, Mary McDonald of Moultier, GA; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 10:00am at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Pastor Gail Adamoschek officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Dolgeville Cemetery.

Jake Enright, 87, of Ames, New York passed peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday, July 15, 2012.
He was born at home on March 22, 1925 to Thomas James Enright and Anna Mae Wessel Enright. Growing up Jake shared a special bond with his 1 sister and 2 brothers, Kenneth Enright (Ames, NY) and predeceased Mildred Cole (Schenectady, NY) and Thomas Enright (Ames, NY).
He attended Ames Academy and Canajoharie Central School. Upon completion he owned and operated the family farm.
On July 31, 1948 he married the love of his life, Geraldine Bailey. They shared 64 years together.
Three daughters were blessed to have them as parents, Pam Bowerman (Spike), Patty Yacobucci (Rod) and Penny Biltucci (Clinton), all residing in the local area; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren shared his love, kindness and mischievousness over the years. He also shared these attributes with many nieces and nephews.
Jake contributed to the area he so loved. He served as a Town Justice and Town Councilman for many years. Throughout his life he was a member of the Canajoharie Co-Op, Sprout Brook Rod and Gun Club, The Buel Grange, The Ames Cornerstone Baptist Church and the proudest member of the Montgomery County Democrat Committee. He volunteered his service to the Ames Fire Department assisting Ames Old Home Day Events and Pancake Breakfast. Jake also coordinated the annual release of pheasants to be enjoyed by area residents.
He spent his free time driving the local area roads enjoying nature and visiting with friends and neighbors. Some of his fondness memories were hunting with the Ames Gang and playing cards with his friends at Charlie’s. Also, he was an avid New York Met fan.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Pastor Carl Hawver officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Ames Cemetery.

Mrs. Carol Lynn Dillenbeck, 46, of Fort Plain, New York passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012.
She was born on January 8, 1966 in Little Falls, NY, and was the daughter of Howard VanDycke and Dulcie Hart VanDycke.
Carol was a member of the Fort Plain Reformed Church, where she also worked as the custodian. She was hard working and loved giving to and helping others, which included working to help provide the Manna House meals at the church.
She loved taking care of and playing with her granddaughter, Madison.
Mrs. Dillenbeck was predeceased by her 2 sisters, Delores VanDycke and Helen VanDycke.
Carol is survived by her husband, Chester Dillenbeck of Fort Plain, NY; 2 daughters, Jessica Lynn Dillenbeck of Fort Plain, NY, Sarah M. Dillenbeck of Fort Plain, NY; son, Edward Dillenbeck of Fort Plain, NY; 4 step-sons, Chester Dillenbeck, Jr., Russell Dillenbeck, George Dillenbeck, David Dillenbeck; 2 brothers, Howard VanDycke, Jr. of Fonda, NY, Edward VanDycke of OK; 4 sisters, Verna Allen of St. Johnsville, NY, Elizabeth Mangold of St. Johnsville, NY, Sarah VanAvery of Fort Plain, NY, Jennifer Pollard of Frankfort, NY; 2 grandchildren, Zanith Longfellow of Amsterdam, NY, Madison Lewis of Fort Plain, NY; 9 step-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews.

Mr. Dale H. Ward, 70, of State Highway 5s, Fort Plain, New York died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his home following a long illness.
Born on August 23, 1941 in Little Falls, NY, he was the son of Howard Ward and Ruth Wheadon Ward. He was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Fort Plain High School, class of 1959.
Mr. Ward was a Farm Equipment Mechanic working for several local dealerships until opening his own business in 1979, where he Owned and Operated Dales Repair Service for over 30 years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Fort Plain Masonic Lodge #433 F&AM.
On September 1, 1962 at the Johnstown United Methodist Church, Dale was married to Elaine L. Sponable. Together they celebrated almost 50 years of marriage.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Elaine Ward of Fort Plain, NY; 3 children, Nancy Wengenack (Thomas) of Rochester, MN, Deborah Waner (Jeffrey) of Fort Plain, NY, Thomas H. Ward (Donna) of Palatine Bridge, NY; 5 grandchildren, Christine Ward of Palatine Bridge, NY, Christopher Ward of Palatine Bridge, NY, Jordan Waner of Fort Plain, NY, Timothy Wengenack of MN, John Wengenack of MN; maternal uncle, Arthur Wheadon; cousin, Judith King (Keith).

Mr. John J. Austin, 88, of Center Street, Fort Plain, New York died early Monday, July 30, 2012 at his daughter’s home.
Born on January 22, 1924 in Fort Plain, NY, he was the son of Charles Austin and Mabel Wick Austin. He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, class of 1942 and a lifetime resident of Fort Plain.
Mr. Austin was an Aerospace Engineer for General Electric in Utica from September 8, 1953 until his retirement in May 1986.
Mr. Austin is a Veteran of the US Army-Air Corp, serving from 1942-1946.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain.
Mr. Austin was the Head Alter boy for the former St. James Roman Catholic Church. He was a Little League Baseball Coach and an animal lover. He also loved camping.
On January 6, 1945 in Shrewsbury, England, John was married to Margaret R. Scott.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Sdrewski, Marie Austin, Mabel Murphy, Katherine VanArsdale; brothers, Edward Austin, Charles Austin and Peter Austin.
Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, Margaret Scott Austin of Fort Plain, NY; daughter, Patricia Austin Klemme of Palatine Bridge, NY; son, John J. Austin, Jr. and his wife, Dorothy of Ashland, MA; 3 grandchildren, Jonathan C.S. Klemme of Ithaca, NY, Megan P. Rae Klemme of Japan, John J. Austin, III of Natick, MA; 3 great-granddaughters, Caroline M. Austin, Charlotte M. Austin, Emily M. Austin; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Prayer service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 9:30am at the Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY with Father Dennis Murphy and Father John Roos co-officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fort Plain Cemetery with Military Honors by the US Army.

Mr. Thomas J. Dunn, 72, of Hickory Hill Road, Fort Plain, New York died Thursday, August 8, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his family, following a courageous 18 year battle with cancer.
Born on March 16, 1940 in Muskogee, OK, he was the son of Jack R. Dunn and Mary J. Moore Dunn. Mr. Dunn was a graduate of Highland High School, class of 1958. He continued his education with the University of New Mexico where he received his Undergrad Bachelors of Arts Degree in Business in 1962 and his Jurist Doctorate in 1965. Prior to moving to Fort Plain, Mr. Dunn, resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 61 years.
His greatest loves were His Lord, Jesus; his family; his friends from Highland High and the University of New Mexico; his law firm and partners; those he coached in Little League and Legion Baseball; those he served with and taught in Bible Study Fellowship; and many others he cherished from years of living, playing, golfing and being in his home town of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
On August 7, 1964 he was married to Sandra L. Maisel. Together they celebrated 48 years of marriage.
Mr. Dunn leaves behind his sweet wife, Sandy Dunn of Fort Plain, NY; 2 sons, Greg and his wife, Kirsten Dunn and their children, Tommy, Jackson, Montana, Emese, Jodi, Isaiah, Keziah, Courage and Patience; Reed and his wife, Jodie Dunn and their children, Emma, William, Jamie, Derek and Dustin.
Services in New York are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held in Albuquerque as arranged by the family sometime in the fall.

Mrs. Mary Harhay

Mrs. Mary Harhay, 87, a longtime resident of Canajoharie, New York passed away on Saturday evening, August 4, 2012 at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born on June 11, 1925 in Poland, she was the daughter of William and Eva Laba. She was educated in Poland and came to the United States with her husband and son in 1949. Mary became a US citizen in 1955.
Mrs. Harhay was employed at Beech-Nut/Life Savers for 35 years, retiring in July 1987. After her retirement, Mary enjoyed many bus trips with friends to all parts of the country, tending her garden and preparing wonderful holiday meals for her extended family. Her smiles, as well as her homemade pierogis will be missed.
She was a communicant of the former St. Peter’s & Paul’s Catholic Church in Canajoharie.
Mrs. Harhay was a member of the 25 Year Club at Beech-Nut.
On October 30, 1946, in Germany, Mary was married to Charles Harhay. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1984. She was also predeceased by her only son, Michael Harhay on May 6, 2002.

Mr. Richard “Dick” Carl Voght, 90, of Seebers Lane, Canajoharie, New York died, Friday, August 17, 2012.
Richard was born on April 9, 1922 in Canajoharie, NY. He was the son of Frederick H. Voght and Martha M. (Van Valkenburgh) Voght. He was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, class of 1941 and was a lifelong area resident.
Richard was the co-owner of Voght Mobil Service Station in Canajoharie from 1944-1985. He then worked in the security department for Beech-Nut in 1987 until his retirement.
He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the US Navy as an Aviation Machinist 1st Class in the Pacific Theatre. After the war, Richard was a member of the US Army Reserves rising to the rank of Master Sergeant in the Infantry Unit. He was an active member of the AMVETs Canajoharie Post and with local veterans they established the American Veterans Scholarship, which is awarded to two Canajoharie seniors each year.
On July 6, 1946 in Sharon Hill, he was married to Beatrice C. Vosburg. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2000. He was also predeceased by his brother, Willis F. Voght.
Mr. Voght is survived by his daughter, Caryl L. Voght ; sons, Daniel R.(Lyn) Voght and Gilbert M. Voght; sister, Barbara V. Spraker; 5 grandchildren, Carly Nellis, Ryan Voght, Stephanie Voght, Jonathan Voght and Tyler Voght; great-grandchildren, Allysa and Joshua Nellis; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Burial will take place in Slate Hill Cemetery.

Miss Gladys M. Waner, 99, of Division Street, Fort Plain, New York died, Thursday morning, August 23, 2012 at Palatine Nursing Home.
Born on January 8, 1913 in Ilion, NY, she was the daughter of Alfred Waner and Mabel Neach Waner. She attended Fort Plain High School and Gloversville Business School. She had been a resident of Fort Plain since 1965, previously residing in Ilion, Fonda and Schenectady.
Miss Waner worked at Hawkins Auto Sales in Nelliston, NY as a bookkeeper for 20 years, retiring in June 1985. She had also been employed at Montgomery County Farm Bureau and Chevrolet Garage in Fonda.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Plain.
Miss Waner was Past Matron and 65 year member of the Former Mohawk Valley Chapter #489 Order of Eastern Star in Fultonville, currently the St. Monica-Juanita-Mohawk Valley-Cayadutta Chapter #486 Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member and Past President of Dorcas, W.E.L.C.A at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was a former member of the Pro-To Club in Fonda and was their first Secretary.
Gladys was predeceased by a nephew, Donald Waner on July 29, 2008.
She is survived by her nephew, Richard Waner and his wife Janet of Canajoharie, NY.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Fort Plain Cemetery.

Mrs. Julia Ellen Larson, 95, of Valley Health Services, Herkimer, New York died Monday, August 20, 2012 at Valley Health Services.
Born on July 24, 1917 in Hansboro, North Dakota, she was the daughter of Albert Sidney Brooks and Margaret Atkinson Brooks. She received her BA in Education from Jamestown College in Jamestown, North Dakota in 1938. Mrs. Larson had been a resident of Fort Plain for 14 years, previously residing in Paradise, CA and Hesperia, CA.
Mrs. Larson taught English, Writing, Literature and Speech for Paradise High School in Paradise, CA from 1965 to 1974.
She was a communicant of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Paradise, CA.
On April 14, 1948 in Hansboro, North Dakota, Julia married Edwin Larson. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1998. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Margaret Ryan; brother, James A. Brooks and sister, Rita Lentz.
Mrs. Larson is survived by her cousin, Kathleen Foley of Gardner, MA; brother-in-law, Walter Lentz of Glasgow, MT; several nieces and nephews.
Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.

Mrs. Ernesta Barletta Marchionne, 94, formerly of Cemetery Street, Fonda, New York, and Canal St. Fort Plain, NY, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, August 31, 2012.
Ernesta was born on August 27, 1918 in Yosts/Fonda, NY, and was the daughter of Alessandro Barletta and Stella DiProspero Barletta. She was baptized in Syracuse, NY and her family moved back to Italy in 1922. She returned to the United States after WWII in 1946. Mrs. Marchionne was a mother and homemaker at her home in Fonda, NY, for many years until she moved to Fort Plain to be closer to her daughter. She enjoyed crocheting, cross-stiching, playing Italian card games, and cooking homemade Italian food. Above all she adored her family, and everyone who met her fell in love with her.
Mrs. Marchionne was a communicate of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church in Fonda, NY, later attending Our Lady of Hope with her family when she moved to Fort Plain.
In September 1938, Ernesta Barletta married Filippo Marchionne, a marriage that lasted over 50 years until his death on January 31, 1990.
She was preceded in death by her brothers: Archangelo Barletta, Salvatore Barletta, and Dante Carlo Barletta, and sisters: Angelina Barletta De Gregori, and Flora Barletta Mancini. She was also predeceased by a great-grandson, Zack Davis.
Mrs. Marchionne is survived by her daughter, Dr. Rita Marchionne Piñeryo and her husband Dr. Alfonso F. Piñeryo II of Fort Plain, NY; son, Mr. Luigi Marchionne and his wife Olivia Torres Marchionne of Laredo, Texas; brother, Francesco Barletta and a sister, Antonia Barletta Leonoro , both of Sezze, Latina, Italy; grandchildren, Rita Annette Piñeryo and her husband Francis Allen Conover II, of Lee Center, NY, Dr. Alfonso F. Piñeryo III and his wife Annie Armstrong Piñeryo, of Seattle Washington, Filippo Marchionne and his wife Roberta Degiacomo Marchionne of Warwick, RI, Angelica Ernestina Marchionne, and Jolina Maria Davis both of Peachtree City, GA; great-grandchildren, Isabel Minter, Darby Davis, Luciana Marchionne, and Luigi Marchionne. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins both here and in Italy.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Gray-Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339 on Friday September 7th, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00PM.
A Prayer Service will be held on Saturday September 8th, 2012 at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339, with a burial following in St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Cemetery in Fonda, NY.

Mr. Kenneth Allan Watkins, 84, of State Highway 163, Fort Plain, New York died Monday evening, September 3rd, 2012 surrounded by his family.
Born on February 16, 1928 in the Town of Danube, NY, he was the son of William Kenneth Watkins and Cora Doxtader Watkins. He was a graduate of St. Johnsville Central School, class of 1948 and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Watkins was a supervisor at Helmont Mills Inc. in St. Johnsville, retiring in 1989.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain.
Mr. Watkins was a Veteran of the US Army, 1st Calvary, Private First Class.
He was a member of the Fort Plain American Legion Post #554, a life member of the First Calvary Division Association, and member of the US Air Forces Association (Colin P. Chapter) in Rome, NY. Mr. Watkins was also a member of the National Rifle Association and the North American Fisherman Club.
Mr. Watkins enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
On October 9, 1954 in Fort Plain, NY, Kenneth was married to Jean Korniat Watkins. Together they celebrated 57 years of marriage.
Mr. Watkins is survived by his wife, Jean Korniat Watkins of Freysbush, NY; 2 sons, Kenneth Anthony Watkins and his wife, Kerry of Corinth, NY, Terry M. Watkins and his wife, Anne of San Antonio, TX; sister, Jessie Case of St. Johnsville, NY; 2 sister-in-laws, Marion Shutter and Ellen Sue Claussen; brother-in-law, Anthony Korniat; 3 granddaughters, Danielle, Haleigh, Helen; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A prayer service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 9:30am at the Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY. The celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 7 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY with Father Dennis Murphy and Father John Roos concelebrating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 5-8pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery with Military Honors at graveside.

Miss Getman is survived by her sister, Evelyn A. Bernstein of Canajoharie, NY; 2 nieces, Nona J. Myers, Terre Lynn Gifford; nephew, Michael Allen Bernstein; several grand-nieces, 1 grand-nephew and cousins.
